Adult Autism Assessments

Adult Autism Assessment with Affirming Diagnostic Letters

A compassionate, down-to-earth diagnostic assessment conducted by an Autistic ADHD perinatal psychologist. Because finding out you're autistic should feel like coming home, not just getting a clinical report.

This is for you if...

✓  You've done your research and you're pretty sure you're autistic
✓  You need a diagnosis for accommodations, self-understanding, or want to apply for formal supports
✓  You want an assessment that feels empowering
✓  You want to see a professional who understands late-diagnosed and highly masked autistic adults
✓  You need telehealth because in-person appointments aren't accessible
✓  You want a diagnostic letter that honors your story, not just checks boxes

This is what you can expect during a meeting with me, here is a screenshot of me sitting at my work desk.

My Approach to Autism Assessments

I don't just run through screening questionnaires or a set list of questions and rule out or in a diagnosis.
I weave together:

✓  Your life history (childhood, relationships, work, parenting)
✓  Standardised assessments (but I don't rely on them alone)
✓  Clinical observations
✓  Your lived experience and self-understanding
✓  Trauma-informed lens (because many of us have been misunderstood for decades)

✓  My assessments are thorough, but most importantly they're human. I make space for your story.

Practical details:

✓  Held on Mondays and Fridays (AWST/Perth time)

✓  Telehealth via Google Meets

✓  Currently booking within weeks

✓  Available throughout Australia

What makes my letters different:

Most diagnostic reports are formal, clinical documents with deficit-based language. Mine are written to reflect your life's story, to help you make sense of your experiences. They're designed to help you process, explore, and come home to yourself.

You'll get sentences like:

"This isn't a reinvention; it's a remembering, a return to the self that's been there all along."
"When the mirror never showed you clearly, it makes perfect sense that recognition took time."

If you want a formal clinical report, I'm not your psychologist. But if you want a letter that truly reflects your story, and may be something that you come back to time and time again when you need reassurance, I'm here for you.

Two options

OPTION 1: Standard Autism Assessment with Affirming Letter and Diagnostic Letter

What's Included:

✓  Intake form & questionnaires (completed before assessment)
✓  3-hour telehealth assessment (or 2x 1.5 hours  — email to arrange)
✓  ADHD screening (not full diagnosis)
✓  30-minute feedback session
✓  Two letters: Affirming narrative letter (2 pages) for personal use + formal diagnostic letter (1 page) for medical/disability access use

Your Formal Diagnostic Letter Includes:
✓  Diagnostic outcome (autistic or not)
✓  DSM-5-TR & ICD-11 diagnostic codes
✓  All assessment tools used and results
✓  Recommendations for support
What It's Good For:

✓  Self-understanding and acceptance
✓  Some workplace accommodations
✓  GP referrals
✓  Starting conversations with family
✓  Personal records

What It's Not Suitable For (on its own):

  NDIS applications (see Option 2)
  DSP applications
Cost: $1350 (20% deposit at booking, remainder due 7 days before)

OPTION 2: Standard Autism Assessment with Affirming Letter and Diagnostic Letter + NDIS Support Letter

Everything in option 1 plus:

✓  Detailed breakdown of how autism impacts your daily living, work, relationships, self-care etc
✓  Formatted for NDIS applications
✓  More clinical tone and structure for professional audiences
✓  Still includes your affirming diagnostic letter for personal use

Why You Might Need This:
✓  You're applying for NDIS funding
✓  Your GP/psychiatrist recommended comprehensive functional assessment

Important Limitation: I'm not a clinical psychologist. For NDIS applications I seek supervision and co-signing with a clinical psychologist with experience in Autism assessments. You may require additional supporting documentation from other treating clinicians. I'm upfront about this because I'd rather you know now than waste money on something that won't work for your situation. If you're unsure, email me before booking and we can discuss your specific circumstances.

Cost: $1350 (20% deposit at booking, remainder due 7 days before) plus $300-600 per hour for NDIS support letters (typically 1-2 hours).

The process

Step 1: Book Online

Choose your option, complete the intake form and pay your 20% deposit. You'll receive confirmation with next steps.

Step 2: Complete forms

I'll send you an email with standardised questionnaires. You'll also send me any relevant documents (school reports, previous assessments, though if you don't have them, that's okay).

Step 3: Assessment Day

3-hour telehealth interview via Google Meet (with breaks as needed). We'll discuss your childhood, relationships, education and work experiences, sensory world, social communication, and current life. I don't tick boxes, I listen to your whole story.

Step 4: Feedback Session

30-minute appointment (3-6 weeks after assessment) where we discuss results and I provide your letters. For Option 2 clients, your NDIS letter is included.

Common questions

Do I need a referral?

No, you can book directly.

What if I'm not autistic?

That's okay. The assessment process still provides valuable insights, and we can explore other explanations for your experiences (ADHD, trauma, anxiety). You'll still leave with clarity and self-understanding.

Can I bring a support person?

Yes, if that helps you feel more comfortable during the assessment.

Will my report be accepted for NDIS?

I'm not a clinical psychologist, so my letters alone has limitations for NDIS. I seek supervision and co-signing with a clinical psychologist for Option 2. NDIS typically requires evidence from multiple clinicians. It is best to have another clinician such as a GP help to complete the access request form with you, with my letters as supporting evidence.

What tools do you use?

I use a combination of clinical interview, developmental history, standardised questionnaires (such as but not limited toRBQ-3, CAT-Q, PSS-10, ASRS, WHODAS, ABAS), Coventry Grid, MIGDAS, and observational assessment. I don't rely on any single tool.

For more detailed information, please check out my FAQ page.

If you cancel within 7 days of your appointment, your deposit will not be returned unless someone else books your appointment time. More details are in my informed consent form received upon booking, if you would like to read it first please ask for a copy.
