What to Expect From Your Exploration Consult
You’ve booked your consultation, here’s what happens next.

Before the Session

Within a few days of booking, you’ll receive a welcome email that includes:

  • A short message with the appointment details

  • A PDF journal prompt resource to help you reflect before our session (optional)

There are no questionnaires, forms, or documentation required. This is a space to talk and reflect — not a formal assessment.

What the Session Will Be Like

This session is a chance to explore your experiences, patterns, and questions about autism or other neurotypes in a low-pressure, affirming space. It may include discussion about:

  • Your sensory world

  • Emotions and regulation

  • Communication and relationships

  • Thinking patterns or daily overwhelm

  • Any areas where you feel different, stuck, or unsure

There’s no checklist or script — I will guide the conversation gently, and you're welcome to follow your own thoughts and tangents. You can share stories, ask questions, or simply think aloud. I may offer reflections, patterns I notice, or gentle observations. You don’t need to perform or prove anything. This is not a diagnostic assessment, and no formal outcome will be given.

I’ll be sitting in my office with a warm tea or coffee (see below for a screenshot of what I may look like). You’re welcome to show up however you feel most comfortable, sitting, lying down, moving around your house or garden, having food or a drink nearby, with or without your camera on. You can take breaks, stim, stretch, or pause at any time.

Accessibility & Support Options

You’re welcome to email me at hello@sarahharrower.com if you need anything adjusted. Here are some examples of things you might request:

  • Starting the session with your camera off

  • Having a support person present

  • Asking for suggestions for what to have nearby (e.g. grounding objects, food, comfort items)

  • Rewording or prompting for certain questions

  • Doing the session in shorter bursts (e.g. with more frequent breaks)

  • A voice note reminder or intro if text feels hard to process

  • You are welcome to ask for whatever helps you feel more settled or supported.

Access needs are welcome and normal. You don’t need to explain or justify them, just let me know what works best for you.

Session Details

Your consult will take place via secure Google Meets video call. You’ll receive a link by email the week of your appointment — it opens in your browser and no downloads are required but you may need to sign in using a google account. I recommend you sign in at least 10 minutes early to ensure everything is working ok.

Please make sure:

  • You're in a quiet, private space where you feel regulated

  • Your internet is stable and your device is charged or plugged in

  • You have food, water, and any comfort items nearby if you want them

  • You won’t be interrupted unless that’s something you’ve planned for

  • You feel free to take breaks, stim, move, or step away as needed

If Technology Fails

If the video call drops out and does not reconnect within 2 minutes, I will call your phone. If we can’t reconnect via video, we’ll either continue by phone or reschedule. There’s no extra charge for rescheduling due to tech issues.

After the Session

There is no formal follow-up unless you choose to book another consultation or proceed with a full autism assessment later. You’re welcome to email me with any reflections or questions that come up in the few days following our session.

My Intention for This Session

This space is here for you to think out loud, to be curious, to wonder, and to feel met. You don’t need to come with certainty or polished thoughts. Whether you’re beginning to question, reconnecting with long-held feelings, or needing a sounding board, this is a place to be heard without judgment or expectation. My role is to reflect, support, and stay alongside you as we gently explore your experiences and inner world.
